It’s National Declutter Week!
National Declutter week takes place from Saturday 23rd October to Sunday 31st October in 2010. That covers two week-ends and a half term, which should provide most people with ample opportunity to find the necessary time to make space in their lives!
This is the time for people to go through all the things cluttering up their living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms and spare rooms as well as your garage… come to think of it, when was the last time you saw to the bottom of your garage! Your local council will remove most unwanted items free of charge, assuming of course you can’t recycle them or give them to charity.
Try your local “freecycle” club for things which are still useful, just no longer useful to you. If it’s worth money you can sell it on ebay or at a car boot. And of course, if it’s something you want to keep but just can’t find the space right now, you can put it in storage.
Decluttering is important as it makes us feel less encumbered, helping us to relax when we get home. Think about it: you come home from a busy day at work, to clutter & mess. Is it relaxing? No! All you can think about, after a long day at work, is all the stuff you need to sort out at home… now compare that with coming home to a clean, tidy homespace. Instantly you can relax, thoughts turning to dinner, some decent television and bed… incomparable!
Clear space, clear mind… and don’t forget your office, that needs to be cleared, clean & tidy too.
So get into the spirit of National Declutter Week now!
